Product Description In the past, people creating a home network had to choose between string ing cheap Ethernet cable all over the house or spending tons of cash on a slow, unreliable wireless system. Products like the BEFW11S4 wireless four-port cable/ DSL router from Linksys have changed all that. This unit works as an Internet ga teway, traditional four-port Ethernet hub, and wireless Ethernet hub; is easy to install; and is relatively inexpensive. With the Linksys cable modem and wireless Ethernet adapter we tested with the unit, everything worked like a charm with next to no configuration hassles. Customer Reviews Avoid this router... It's cheap, but you get what you pay for. It shipped with v 1.50.10 of the firmware, but using this version, the router didn't work with one of my friend's wireless cards. Upgrading it to 1.50.14 broke connectivity with another one of my friend's wireless card. When I upgraded it to 1.52.02, there were no connection problems with the wireless... but now, random connections will drop every few minutes. It makes the connection more or less useless. I'm planning on upgrading routers--I haven't decided to what yet. Even though the DGL-4300 by DLink is a lot more expensive, all the reviews are positive, so I'm strongly considering upgrading to that. Good product, but had old firmware on it I use the router with a Comcast internet connection--I replaced an older version of the same item, but when I installed it, I kept losing connection after an hour or two. Called Linksys, got excellent support. Downloaded and installed new firmware. All is well. The Router Really Works I'm a Systems Engineer and I know what works. This linksys router operates without fail day in and day out. I work from home and haven't had any failures.
