Avoid this USB2 hub like the PLAGUE.
After reading the mixed reviews on Amazon, I decided to take a leap of faith and purchase this USB2 hub. Oh man o man o man... I have had problem, after problem, after PROBLEM with this thing.
First off, if ALL OF YOUR DEVICES ARE NOT USB2, it will revert to usb1. For USB1 purposes, it's decent.
Secondly, I am experiencing massive and sporadic incompatibility issues with my 2.5" hard drives, Canon PIXMA 4000 printer, etc.
I have never ever had any other problems with USB hubs, so I assumed this would be a decent experience, but it's been a nightmare
Perfect Solution to octupus cables!
I had a 4-port Belkin hub which required cables to stick out on three sides - and another 2 port hub connected to that.
This gem solved my problem. It's about the size of a cassette recorder and all the USB connectors fit neatly. (Of course there's no getting around the problems of all the cables.
I simply attached the power adapter and the USB connections and restarted my computer. My five peripherals were found and I've had no problem. The price is right, the shipping is free, and for the next few weeks there is a $10 rebate. You can't lose.
A must have for laptops
I use it to connect my USB mouse, full-size keyboard, DVD burner, backup drive, printer, and camera dock all to one port on my laptop. And still have one port left! Works great, no problems. Very compact, pretty cheap price too.
