Product Description

Newly simplified for automotive applications, Garmin's portable StreetPilot 2610 features both a touchscreen and an alphanumeric remote control so you'll always have easy access to automatic route calculations, helpful turn-by-turn directions, and guiding voice prompts. The 2610 offers a color display, built-in maps, and everything you need to download additional map detail. It offers more precise location finding because of its WAAS technology, a feature the original StreetPilot and the StreetPilot III lacked.

Customer Reviews

they sent me the software that did not work.

they sent me the software that did not work. so, I could not install the cd. therefore, I could not turn on the unit.

May be the best

I've had several models of Garmin GPS units through the years and I've never had any trouble with any of them. This 2610 is the best I ever had for sure, replacing my preivous StreetPilot model. The 2620 is nearly the same unit but with a hard drive instead of the memory chip. We opted away from a hard drive because of our use of it on our Harley. No doubt, the chip is less likely for trouble and more robust. The remote is a new touch for this model and is especially useful though the touch screen is really nice. Typing in city names and the likes is much easier on this one than any before as it's done by simply touching the letters on the screen, and it's fast. If you buy a 2 GB chip to go with it (A 128 MB chip comes with it) you can get all the maps and info of all the places in north America, some in Canada, Alaska etc. That's opposed to downloading piecemeal as before, and having to pay each time, then also hoping you had the right chip with you for your location. Now it's all there all the time, no matter where. When that chip is in place the thing almost shows turnrows in fields! Some of the backroads it shows have almost been forgotten as far as travel is concerned. And now, Garmin has made its software and the new units Mac compatible I read. This unit is hardy also as we use the unit in the truck, then switch it over to our Harley for traveling. It's weather resistant and all that, as the previous units were. Garmin is good about keeping their maps up to date with simple downloading into the unit from the internet so you have the latest at all times. Unlike previous units this one has no batteries so it must be plugged in at home with the provided cord. Otherwise, the cigarette lighter is what we use. It comes with about everything you'll need to get going. Hard to go wrong with this unit, it's most enjoyable, easily mounted and very, very helpful in travel. About all you need to know with this unit is where you want to go. It'll find the way in several different ways, and all the accommodations and their information along the way.

NAVI or GATOR they are the best

Navi is the girl voice and Gator is her man. That how my kids go by to lead us everywhere. This GPS system is very cool, I used it when we were in Las Vegas and it is great. It took a while to use it but once you get a hang of it, it is unbelievable. First time powered on, it shows you are in Taiwan because that is the default setting. Just don't panic, it takes couple minutes for it to acquire its position. Then the question mark goes away and ready to use. We love Navi and her man.....
