Customer Reviews

A Satellite Radio feature? Who knew?

I found a great new feature of this phone this morning.

First let me start off by saying, I work out of the home half the week and I have Vonage, so I had very specific requirements for a phone. I didn't want an answering machine, I've got voicemail. I needed a compact base with speaker phone, mute and hold... that is also on the phone itself that I can carry around. I needed a system that could add additional cordless phones because I am done messing around with wires, cords and arranging my furniture around the one phone jack in each room. I needed the range of 5.8 GHz and so that there wouldn't be any problems with my other cordless gadgets. This phone system meets all of those requirements and more. I can't say enough about the extra bells and whistles... distinctive rings, Deluxe CID, intercom, they act like a Walkie Talkie between extensions when you take them out to say an amusement park... ROOM MONITORING.

Room Monitoring emphasized? Yeah, it's a nice feature as a parent with small children. But also on that note, if I wanted that ability, I'd already have one...right? It's like the standard baby gift now. So needless to say, I do have one so I figured it was something I would never use...until this morning. Now to my point.

I got a SIRIUS radio with the car kit for Christmas. I love it. Due to the holiday demands, I was unable to obtain a home docking kit to listen to it in my home. I really wanted to listen to it this morning so I put an extension in my car and turned on the radio. I then went into my home office and used the Room Monitoring feature. It was perfect. Not only could I listen in my office, but I could bring it with me all over the house. I'm so excited about this new idea that when I do get the home docking kit, I know I can listen to it where ever I am on my property just by monitoring my office (without having to park my car in the driveway). The battery life is outstanding and after a few hours, I just swap out extensions, it's great. This phone just made my Satellite Radio portable around my house. Yeah there's an FM tuner but the range is dismal. This way I can hang the phone on my belt, plug in the ear piece and mow the yard, shovel the driveway, whatever I want to do and get to listen to my favorite music or talk radio and of course "Be by the phone" for any calls.

What a wonderful find!

THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW

I love this phone and all of the easy to learn features it has. There is nothing difficult about learning how to use this phone. There was only one thing that I was disappointed in. This is also advertised as a wall phone but actually it is a desk phone modified for use on the wall. ...........and it looks like a desk phone hanging on the wall (not attractive on the wall). If this is not a problem for you, then I highly recommend this phone.

Great for VOIP

When I bought my townhouse, I decided to use Voice Over IP (VOIP) instead of the Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS). To that end, I decided to use Vonage. The problem became, what should I use for my phone?

I thought about using the existing wiring (disconnecting from the outside world) but then I'd still have to buy phones for all over the house. Instead, I came up with a new set of rules so I'd need a single phone only.

1. Multi handset and expandable.
2. Caller ID.
3. Voicemail indicator.
4. 5.8 GHz and digital.
5. Speakerphone base.
6. No answering machine.

Luckily I found this phone and shortly thereafter, it was offered on [...] refurbished for a great price. As added bonuses, one can add standard headsets into the phones as well as a speakerphone feature built into every handset.

So far, the phone has worked perfectly. The range covers my entire house and the clarity has been terrific. My only gripe is the battery life when not sitting in the charger. It may be due to the voicemail indicator feature (which works great), but if left off the base long enough, the charge is lost. The charge isn't even lost quickly when talking on the phone (thankfully), but it's odd.

This is an ideal phone to use as a complement to a VOIP service.
