Recorder OK but can't share the sound files
This is a versatile recorder but it is NOT recommended to anyone that wants to send their recordings to other people or even keep their recordings for the future. The recordings can only be read and edited using a Panasonic software (Voice Studio) which is incompatible with anything else. If you want to save your recordings in mp3, first you have to save to .wav using the proprietary software, then transform wav to mp3 using another software. On top of that, if (as it happened to me) you lose or damage the CD with the Voice Studio installer, there is NO way to get a copy from Panasonic or anyone else. It is absolutely mind-boggling why Panasonic would not offer this software for free, as you cannot use it unless one buys the recorder first.
Bottom line: if you want to keep your recordings in a computer, make sure you buy a recorder that records directly in a known format (preferably mp3). Do not buy this product.
Panasonic, Still Bad Support?
I had a Panasonic cassette micro recorder that I hardly used and was surprized how it began not to work correctly after several years. I took tender loving care of it too. What a waste!
Note: ratings based on support.
I bought their bread machine and it worked wonderful.... for awhile. Took it back to the local Panasonic center and that's when all hell broke loose. When I received my machine back the bread pan was totally SCRATCHED up, and I kid you not, and the bread machine never worked correctly after that. So much flour and time was wasted.
Needless to say, arguments with the manager and finally with a district supervisor yielded hardly any progress. (I have a stack of papers and back and forth documentation with them). All I ended up with was a new pan with the same machine never working right after that. Sick of it all, I gave in and swore never to buy another Panasonic product ever again!
BUT, I did, a phone (very reluctantly) because it was the only phone that color coordinated with my computer at that time. I admit Panasonic makes "colorful" products. But, I never bought anymore Panasonic products. I believe it's been almost a decade already.
My father bought a Panasonic TV and it went broke about the time the warranty went out. (I told him to buy a Sony, but he was a hardhead). It's still broken because the dealer went broke too. My dad even bought an extended warranty. Very reluctant and leery now to buy ANY Panasonic products!
little recorder, lots of fun
Fairly easy to use, comes with soft ware that I found uncomprehensible. If it would type for you it may be useful. The kids totally love it, recording funny stuff. Comes in handy for writting on the road, and recording lectures.
