Product Description

Bring your Sirius Sportster satellite radio receiver to life with this essential, plug-and-play accessory. Simply plug the Sportster SPR1 receiver into the SPB1 Sportster boombox's cradle and you're ready to follow the game or rock out on the patio. The unit features a detachable antenna for maximum reception. A built-in compartment houses the antenna when the unit is not in use. While the Sportster boombox includes an AC adapter for wall power, it will also run on eight D batteries. The boombox features controls for power and volume, as well as a button that allows you to toggle between satellite radio signals and an external audio input source. The volume can also be controlled by the SPR1 receiver's remote control. External sources such as CD and MP3 players can be connected via a 3.5 mm AUX input jack. There's also a 3.5 mm jack for headphone listening. A 5-watt amp powers the 4-inch stereo speakers and an ergonomic popup handle makes transporting a breeze.

Customer Reviews

battery trouble

Why am I only getting six hours of play (i.e. 1 1/2 Stern shows)
before the batteries give out? Is this a problem anyone else has had?

Whu does the antenna have to be junk?

I was so stoked when I bought this box. I read the manual and it says if in a big city just put the antenna near a window and it should work great. Not. I put it in my Florida room that is screened in and nothing. Acquiring signal. Then I move it to up and even outside and it still won't just stay on. Such a dissapointment because I really like Sirius. I hate their cheap antenna's they give you and notice they sell more expensive ones as well. Should have been in the antenna buisness. Fortune there.?.?.? Hope this blows over. Guess I'm on the roof tomorrow.

A 'first to market' product that is lacking basic features

Pros:
1. Great sound (however, very heavy bass when listening to talk channels.)
2. Ease of use
3. Detachable antenna works great
4. Can run your MP3 player into it

Cons:
1. No FM tuner
2. No bass/treble controls (very heavy on the bass side - you have no control over it.)
3. No visual volume indications (you don't know what level the volume is at.)
4. Missing 3 VERY basic features that would have been very easy to implement on this boombox.

If you have Sirius service and want a mobile (non-car) player then this boombox + Sportster is an affordable solution. You're choices are very limited right now so this product is as good as it gets.

I don't HATE this product but I get frustrated at it's lack of bass/treble controls.
