Beware of shop.xmradio.com
It may be somewhat unfair to rate this radio so low because of the poor service, but in my mind they go hand-in-hand.
Shop.xmradio.com is the online store affiliated with www.xmradio.com. They frequently run specials, expecially with current XM customers, offering low prices on second XM subscriptions, etc.
I can honestly say, that I have had the absolute worst customer service experience with this company. The device broke when attempting to connect the home docking station, so I called and was given a RA# to return the device. This was only given out to me after arguing with the operator that the problem was warranty related. It has now been over 2 months since I sent in the parts for exchange, and I have yet to get the replacements. Better yet, I call the customer service department and am told that the 'only way they can communicate with their warehouse is through email' and 'they are not responding'. What? I then request to just return the unit for a refund and am told that I cannot. Unbelievable. Worst yet is that I have paid for 2 months of additional XM service, and have yet to have the ability to use this radio.
I only assume it's a nice radio.

I purchased this unit from another supplier, but I buy items from Amazon all the time. I am overly pleased with the adaptability of this unit, I'm using it in my car, my truck, my boat, my home, and as a "Walkman" type personal radio, we use it at work, it is the most adaptable radio I have ever seen. I do however have one complaint, it doesn't concern the radio itself, but the satellite service XM. They do not offer premium channels any longer. As long as the radio has a clear view of the southern sky, it receives its signal, I have satellite television at home and during inclement weather my signals are interupted, not with this radio, however I drive through rain and cloudy days with uninterupted service, I only loose service temporarily when the unit is blocked from it southern reception. Great unit, love it.

This receiver is one of the most well-conceived products that I've ever bought, and its performance is excellent. The recording feature is great, and it came with every conceivable accesory that you could need. If it doesn't pick up a signal well enough, you can invest in a set of antenna-headphones to use, but I've found that with the recording feature, I always have enough to listen to when I'm in a place where I can't receive the signal. The FM transmitter works flawlessly, turning any radio or stereo receiver in a room into an XM receiver. I'm usually pretty demanding of electronics, but there's nothing here to be critical about, really. And I received the replacement battery in the mail last week, so everything's set! You'll love this unit. . . .
