When I first got this phone, December 29, 2004, I thought it was the best thing in the world. And, for the most part, it is. Great features-what, with different ring tones, conference and expansion capabilities, and a light-up display. So, I just recently bought the answering machine to complete my set up. However, suddenly the voice transmitter on one of my phones has gone out (i.e., no one can hear me, but I can hear them. I can even conference.). So, I figured it was just a problem of dropping that particular handset on the ground so many times. So I purchased another one. But, woulnd't you know it, as some days later, the second headset experienced the same problem. This headset was not dropped like the other one, so that excuse is out the window. Therefore, the only logical explanation Since I tried Mute)is that there is a timer in these phones designed to disable the phone after a certain time. Just over a year, I see, and just beyond the limit of any warranty, had I purchased one. DO NOT BUY! A hidden treasure! This phone system is awesome!!! It's a hidden treasure. It's got way more features than I expected. Not only is it an expandable cordless phone system that allows you to put a phone in any room with an electrical outlet, but it's got a lot of neat features. You name each phone with the name of the room it's in. One phone can call another individual phone. Each phone has several ringers to choose from. You can transfer your address information and saved numbers to one or all of the other extensions. You can even take two phones with you out of the house and use them as walkie talkies when you're out shopping or whatever. These are just a few of the cool features this phone system has. It's easy to use. This is a really great phone system and worth every penny. I purchased the additional handset which put my system at the maximum 4-phone capacity. If you like gadgets, you'll love this phone system!!! Wonderful Phone This is a great phone. The speakerphone function is great. I took 1 star off for not being able to dial on the base. It is a little too small to fit between your ear and shoulder. It is like a cell phone.
