Great, little player
I like the K-I-S-S (keep it simple stupid) approach to this player. You use Windows Media Player to manage your music and down-load it to the player and the Sansa simply plays what you've loaded. No extra software required, just drag & drop into the player; cool!
The player is VERY light weight and straight forward to use. I also realy like the capability to upgrade it later on by adding an SD card - nice!
Pros:
Light weight
Easy to use
No extra software
Upgradeable
Replaceable - AAA battery
Cons:
Battery door seems a bit flimsy (use the case provided to protect this)
Feels and sounds cheap
Maybe it's me but I hate this thing. It takes a very long time to start up (it scans the whole expansion card everytime you start it) the sounds is odd (I have tried all the settings and it's still very hollow) the controls are slow to react and then overreact. I can't figure out how to bookmark a song I like. There is no software included except for music services you have to subscribe to and the ear buds that come with it fall out unless you jam them in your ear in a way that I'm sure isn't a good idea. I am returning mine tomorow and I only bought it yesterday. An insert in the packages says "Stop, don't return this to the store...call Customer Service" which closes down at 4pm Pacific Time. I wonder how many units are returned?
I LIKE IT VERY MUCH!
I did enough research and finally decided to go for this. I like it very much; this review is based on the usage for 2 weeks so far. I will try to post updates if I find anything good or bad about this in the future.
I am enjoying this player so far. I use it everyday in the gym. I do jogging and it is really apt for me (Thanks to the armband). The sound effect is really cool. The ear phones are great and never fall out of my ears while jogging. It comes with 3 different sizes of ear buds so I hope it can fit in all ear. The navigations are simple and easy. The sound control wheel is bit let down but I don't find it annoying at all. The expandable memory slot is really helpful for me as I already have a 1 GB SD card from my PDA. One problem with this player is if you switch off the player and switch it on, it plays from the beginning of the last track played (It's not smart enough to bookmark the exact spot on the track) So if you are listening any audio stories, you may have to fast forward every time you reset the player.
Overall, I am completely satisfied with the player so far! I would recommend this!
