Customer Reviews

Back to School

I'm surprised by all the negative reviews Sims 2 University has gotten so I thought I'd add my own 2 cents...

I play it on my iBook G4 and have had no problems with it at all. The game runs fine, but it's bit slow at times when you're playing on large lots with many Sims. That's my only complaint, but the graphics look great so I don't mind too much.

The University expansion makes Sims 2 game playing much more interesting in my opinion. Besides the obvious game extras like new looks for your Sims (new hairstyles, fashions, etc.), nice new house & decor items and new building items and options, you also get new interesting career options like "Artist", "Paranormal" and "Show Business" as well as fun new career reward items such as the "Cow Plant" (a Sim eating pet plant) , the "Antique Camera" which lets you take nice snap shots of our Sims and the "Resurrect-O-Nomitron" which lets you make ZOMBIE Sims!

Some of my favorite new items are the new creativity building items. University lets your musically inclined Sims form bands and perform live music for money. You can play the drums, guitar and bass now as well as the piano. Hopefully they'll add more instruments to other expansion sets.

With University, your young Sims can now add a whole new "young adult" age to their life-span so they have more time to build skills, make friends and develop a personality.

If you happen to find college life interesting like I do, you'll probably enjoy things like the ability to now join a "secret society", join a "greek house" or "sorority", have "toga parties" and "sports parties" instead of just "house parties", etc.

In brief - I think Sims 2 University is lots of fun and well worth the money! It will make your Sims 2 game playing much more interesting and give you many more options. As a Mac user I'm really happy that Aspyr Media is releasing Sims 2 expansions for the Mac. Please keep them coming!

Fun and Interesting, But Needs Work

From the guy before me, that happened with me. All you need is to repair your hard drive. That's what I did, and the game works fine. Overall, though, it is a good game. It's not really that exciting like Nightlife, however.

Buggy and unplayable

Sims 2 for Mac runs great on my iMac G5, but my new copy of the Sims 2 University expansion pack won't run at all! I have a feeling this product was rushed out the door in an attempt to get it into stores in time for the holidays, and it's not quite fully tested and debugged. The game will not run at all on my iMac -- the University loads, but freezes up and "time" never starts. If any other users report the same problem, I would recommend avoiding this product until the next patch or update is released. It otherwise looks like it would be a lot of fun --too bad!
