Figure it out for yourself
I was excited about this game--college fanfare, EA SPORTS, etc. However, mine will soon be up for sale. The pitching and fielding are well done; the batting is horrific. With 3 styles of "play" (classic, zone, etc), a little instruction would be nice to accompany the game; however, EA chose to do this on game insert the size of 3x5 card. Tons of pitches land in the strike zone, yet you don't have a snowball's chance in hell of hitting them. The "load and fire" asks too much of the average fan; I'm sorely disappointed and will think long and hard before buying EA games again.
What Do You Really Expect ???
I am reading alot of bashing going on. But as my title reads: What Do You Really Expect ??? Its college of course there is no free agency no trading no frills really. They try with the recruiting. So again I ask What Do You Really Expect ???
I am not saying that this is the greatest game out there. I am saying think before you speak and look at what EA is going through. One thing I don't like is that toggle stick fielding stuff, now that sucks.
Its not that bad I just think a real or true baseball fan might just some enjoyment out of this. But when I first saw that they were releasing this I said to myself okay this is the first college baseball game I have ever seen. Not to say there are not any others. I said this wont be MVP MLB this is something different. I had no clue at the time that it was due to the lost of the best baseball game ever MVP Baseball. So think about it they had to try to do something and cut some corners to make what they thought was the next best baseball game since the golden goose was stolen.
Show a little sympathty and stand by the makers of many other fine sporting games. And remember the good times we all had with the MVP and even back to the Triple Play days. Didn't remember that one did you.
But people dont want understanding they want a great cutting edge mind blowing game. Its not always going to be that way. Its baseball and thats all I wanted.
So one last time for the road.
What Do You Really Expect ???
More was lost than the uniforms
I was pretty disappointed with this game, as a diehard MVP 2005 player. I was expecting minor changes, and improvements at that. This game feels unfinished.
- I don't mind the analog controls, in theory. On the good side, they make fielding more unpredictable and the game more interesting. However, the meter isn't easy to see and you pretty much have to play with the same team constantly and get the timing right with each player to field with consistency.
- Metal bats are replaceable with wood. Not a big deal.
- But it feels unfinished: when you hit the "send out the skipper" button (one of the best features last year) during a replay, the skipper doesn't come out until after the cutaway with the scoreboard. It's maddening. Also, the ability to intentionally hit a batter is gone, but the errant slider is not.
- Mike Patrick is dry. Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow made the game interesting last year with their banter. This year Patrick stinks it up in the booth. No emotion, no color. Poorly done.
Try again, EA Canada.
